After scribbling his initials on the callboard, James briefly considered his options for a moment before deciding that he should go to Vanessa’s dressing room first, to see if she had procured the promised violin bow. If not, he’d have to find one of their stage managers to work their magic, and he’d rather avoid that so close to call.

He rapped on her door before pushing it open. “Vanessa?” he called tentatively, opening the door wider and peering inside. She was nowhere to be found, nor was Lolly, which was odd. Her dressing room was usually bustling with activity before the show. But maybe it was too early.

He started for his own dressing room, unable to decide whether he was surprised or not to find Vanessa – holding a bow, thank god – settled in his chair, her ankles daintily crossed on the vanity. Her long legs were exposed, she only clad in what he recognized to be the shirt he had abandoned beneath her head after their first time. He noticed his costume was folded neatly next to her on the counter.

She smiled up at him, almost smirking, as she ran a block of rosin up and down the strings of the bow.

“Thank you,” he smiled, closing the door.

She raised a brow at him, “For what? I haven’t done anything yet,” she drawled lowly, letting her gaze fall purposefully down to his crotch. He swallowed as she moved the rosin over the bow in deliberate strokes, his pants feeling tighter.

When he didn’t answer, she continued, “But, tell me, Jamie, is the wood hard enough?” She held it out for his inspection. “Was I handling it correctly?”

“Y-yes,” he nodded, stepping forward and cupping her cheek, pressing his lips to hers.

“Mmn,” she chuckled against his mouth. “Jamie, what ever has gotten into you?” She batted her eyelashes up at him innocently.

He rolled his eyes, taking the bow from her and setting it on the vanity before kissing her hungrily, catching the chair as it tipped back.

“Honey, nmm,” she murmured, pressing her hands against his chest. “Doll, we have to get ready for the show,” she reminded him, peering up at him seemingly seriously when he pulled back.

He bit his lip, nodding and reluctantly but carefully lowering the chair. “Of course. I’m sorry.”

She pouted affectionately at him as she stood up, and he noticed that her cleavage was nearly spilling out of his shirt with all the missing buttons. She patted his cheek on her way to the door. “Don’t be, doll. Listen, dear, I might need you to help me warm up in a bit…”

He watched in confusion when she turned toward his vanity instead of leaving, grabbing the ruined bow from the day before off the counter. “…I’ll just take this out of your way, doll,” she whispered. He gasped when she ran the over his crotch on her way to the door, his eyes wide.

She turned to him before leaving. “Downstairs in fifteen?” she asked, not waiting for his answer before departing.
